Sheffield United midfielder Hamza Choudhury has been named alongside Italy-based young midfielder Fahamedul Islam in the 38-member preliminary squad for Bangladesh's first Asian Cup Qualifiers match against India, which will be held in Shilong on March 25.

Eighteen-year-old Fahamedul, a left-back and left wing-back, currently plays for Italian Serie D club Olbia Calcio. His previous clubs include Ligorna and Livorno, and he also spent time in Sampdoria's youth system.

Olbia Calcio 1905 announces that it has acquired the rights to the sports performance of Fahamedul Islam, a midfielder/outside attacker born in 2006.
After playing in the youth systems of Spezia and Sampdoria, he began this season at Ligorna (Serie D Group A) and then moved in October to Unione Sportiva Livorno (Serie D Group E).
The club also announces that it has acquired the rights to the sports performance of Alberto Serra, a right-winger born in 2001.
Having grown up in various youth sectors of Portuguese teams, he moved to England in 2019 where he played for North Shields FC and Darlington. Then Arbroath, a team in Scottish League One, and Sunderland RCA FC.
